The Building Commission NSW (BCNSW) has advised a regulatory update regarding the submission of Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW) effective 01 March 2026.

From 01 March 2026, electricians must use BCNSW eCert to submit Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)

What is a BCNSW eCert?

The Building Commission NSW (BCNSW) eCert is a digital certificate that will replace the current handwritten and PDF submissions. The BCNSW eCert can be submitted via the portal while onsite using a smartphone or tablet, or from an office desktop, and will automatically share certificates with customers, suppliers and Building Commission NSW.

When will the BCNSW eCert be mandatory?

The BCNSW eCert will become mandatory from 01 March 2026 and all hand-written forms and PDF CCEW will no longer be accepted from this date.

What does this mean for you?

If you are conducting activities in NSW that require Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW), you will be required to;

  • Register for the BCNSW eCert portal before 01 March 2026, and

  • Ensure your teams are informed and trained on the new platform.
